The 2009 stimulus package signed by president Obama contains quite a few financial stimulus for many different parts of the population. Infrastructure spending, tax cuts make up most of the bill but one of the key aspects to the package is a special cash payment. This won’t be like the general stimulus check of last year but will be given to select groups such as retired veterans on disability.
$250 stimulus check in 2009
A one time payment of $250 will be paid out in 2009 for people in the following groups:
- People currently receiving Social Security.
- State government retirees not eligible for Social Security.
- Veterans receiving pensions from the Department of Veteran Affairs.
- People receiving SSI payments. Supplemental Security Income payments are for people who have little to no income and is intended to meet the basic needs for food, clothing and shelter.
When will I get my stimulus check?
Treasury is supposed to start sending out these checks as soon as possible. This site will be updated when more information becomes available.

My check posted this A.M. Last two are: 63 in Pennsylvania. Guys and gals………public debate is indeed healthy and it is good to hear opinions from around the world. We all have had the good, bad and ugly from the VA and we should discuss all issues and help each other out by offering points of contact that either worked out well for us or hindered us. We should appreciate the opinions of others and not argue with each other. As I said before…….we are all trying to accomplish similar goals. We should have each others backs like many of us did in previous years. Strength is often shown in numbers! Opinions are just that. If you have a bad experience at a restaurant, the person next to you may have had the best experience. If we have facts to tell, we should at least explain where to obtain the information or cite any references. I for one have appreciated all of our brothers and sisters for being there when it counted. I support the DAV.

Well i couldnt wait so i called and may have an answer for some. The rep told me that mine was processed and should be in my account today, he also added that there have been some problems with the direct deposit and i may not get it for a couple of days. If i dont have it by the 10th to call back so they can track it. A little hope anyway. Hope this helps some.
nothing for me either. I get SS and VA but didnt get a payment from either party. Just my luck, 4 years ago VA declared me dead, may have happened again. ahhh phooey

IT’S THERE! (250.) and i owe, that is: in default on, both fed and state student loans. (not taxes).
florida, however, does not allow the “garnering” of disability payments (i assume that applies to the state as well).
anyway, i just don’t think they are taking money from this to pay gov debt.
anyway, i’m happy — even though it was long gone before i got it.
yes Maureen, i think one would have to be in DEFAULT… past due, no plan, no effort, DEFAULTED. so if you have plan… you are covered, they won’t take it. if you have a plan they may not take your return either(?)… nah… they probably take that, better adjust your deductions!

I received my regular compensation check, but I have not received the stimulus check yet. Although the 4 other guys i work with that receive compensation have.
Last two are 45, live in CA. Called the VA (1-800-827-1000); they told me it was deposited to my account on the 23 June. But it seems I owed the Government money that I did not know about, and they took it. So, maybe it depends which state you live in, but they can take it if you owe. The VA can tell you by which Government Agency it was taken.

Go to Military.com and look under News tab for the article stating VA stimulus checks are being released by June 30th. Still haven’t gotten mine yet, but got regular comp ck yesterday. Maybe by today or friday in the mail.
Well VA told me it went to an old account I had many moons ago, So much for them stating it will be paid by the same way your compensation is. So I guess I will be on the Call on the 10th party. Oh well

They told me to wait until the 10th, because they cannot do anything about a non payment until then.

Called the VA today. The rep I talked to (very polite and helpful) said mine was direct desposted last Tuesday.
They sent to the first account we had when I retired. My VA check hasn’t gone to that account in about 7 years. Thanks goodness it was still open.

I guess $12 is it…Got a letter, Social securitry took $238 from 10 years ago saying I was overpaid back then. 1st I’ve heard of it. I got SSAN starting in March this year. govt always finds a way to avoid paying. Never got more then 5 months SSI for all the 40 years of disability since the war. Always found a way to disqualify me…should have been a drug addict or drunk I guess….
I am trying to get a stimulus check as my paperwork took 15 months to complete and allthough I was paid retroactively back to January of 2008, the VA is telling me that since I was not receiving a check on November of 2008 I do not qualify for a stimulus check!!! If they took a reasonable 6 months to complete my claim, I would have started getting a check around July of 08. Is that not some BS or what?????????
Joe Carney, I am a Legion Sevice Officer, you do get it because technically yu were receiving a check. Call them again and don’t ask demand. Then send a letter. appeal and get the money, VA is wrong..541-866-2849

just called NJ tax, They recieved my payment from my taxes that were due, but it is still in processing (what ever that means), so i guess that justified them taking the stimulus too.
you would think that if they took the money out of my account it would have been processed?
but once everything is processed then they will reimburse me the stimulus money. They dont have a timeline on when it will be processed.

Keep calling them and they stated it was “issued” June 30th. Funny because I called them on July 2 and they told me to wait to the tenth as there was nothing they could do until them. Called my bank they state nothing is there. What is going on?
Well, I still have not received anything, and have had three inquiries send regarding where my check is, no word. I was told last week, they hope to have everyone paid by the middle of August. So that’s comforting to here I guess. I was told my check was sent to a wrong address, which is impossible because I have lived in my house for over three years. Then they said it was the wrong checking acct. Then they said a check was going to be issued. I am at the point they can keep the money because the way it’s going with no answer, my not even get it.
I am a disable non-service connected veteran with Paraplegia and low income buget and I need the extra cash and I have no one to assist me in obtaining it, nor does the PVA, does not advise its members on how to help one self. All with this problem should write and presure for asistance.
Well, for those of you who are still reading this site and havenot gotten your money. I was told by the VA today they checks will be reissued mid august or mid september. Gotta love it.
So federal tax rejected mine due to me forgeting to enter the $250, still havent figured out where to enter it in the taxslayer program i’m using, this $250 more work than its worth and they will probably now make me pay taxes on it since i worked 2009
