In 2010, President Obama will be paying out a $250 stimulus check to all eligible recipients of SSI which is stands for “Supplemental Security Income”. This $250 payment is part of his ongoing efforts to stimulate the poor economy out of recession.
Who is eligible for the $250 stimulus?
Anyone who is currently receiving SSI payments will be eligible for the $250 check. There are also some other groups who will receive this check including Social Security recipients and disabled veterans.

When will the $250 checks be paid out?
It is not known at this time when the payments will be made but it is likely that they will be paid in the first quarter of 2010 (ie before the end of March).
Is there any income limit for the $250 payment?
No, it doesn’t matter if you have other income or if you are working or not. It doesn’t matter how much income you make – you will still get the check.
How much will this cost the government?
According to White house officials, the cost of all the stimulus checks will be $13 billion. A large amount of money but don’t forget that the stimulus package for 2009 was almost $800 billion.
Why is the government doing this?
The government is giving out this money in order to try to stimulate the economy. Because of problems in the financial markets and housing markets over the last 2 years, there has been a slowdown in economic activity in America and many job losses. By putting extra money into the economy it is hoped that the decline of the economy can be slowed down or even reversed.
Will it be a check or electronic payment?
The $250 should be given to you in the same format you currently receive your regular Social Security payment. If you get your SS payment by check then the $250 will also be by check. If you get your SS payment deposited in to your bank account then the $250 will also be deposited into your bank account.

I heard Earlier on the News but missed part of it.. Something about the checks going out by Next Week.. This is for the Medicare Part D assistance on helping pay for their drugs.. A one time payment which I beleive will be to Most all Seniors on Medicare.. $250.
When this Bill was first voted on.. It was turned down by Congress but it then was left for the Senate to vote on.. Thats why many of you thought it was Dead .. But was in Fact Lingering in the Hands of the Senate till Now.. It is a Part of the Health Reform Bill to help People on Medicare to pay for their Drugs.. the way i understand this is that these checks are going out to med-care receipents who have part d medicare, this however not fair because not all seniors have part d i don’t. and what about the direct deposit checks when will they be put into my account. when will you people learn this is not a government of the people, by the people ,for the people anymore.

We are covering the tails of banks, and car companies by giving them money now why in the hell don’t we as handicapped people deserve to get another stimulus check, and yes I would love to work but cannot like most of us on ssi and we get tired of people who do telling us to get a job and work for our money. I did work for mine for four years at minimum wage so I feel that we deserve that $250 dollars to help out with food and other essentials after all we keep getting our little checks cut every few month to give money to the rich why can’t we get more.

well here it is after the 10th of June and guess what no check, I think we’ve been lied to again. why do they keep doing this to us .can’t they just tell us the truth so we won’t be disappointed every day. we’re not hurting as bad as some are.but still would be nice to have that extra money in my pocket. we still have a few bills to pay yet this month but had to split them up and pay most important ones first. I remember last year SSA sent out letters informing us of a stimulus check coming and when we would receive it. There has been no letter to date (this year). I think everyone should just give up hope on getting one until they receive the letter announcing it. However, we should complain. I am so sick and tired of them throwing money down the drain and not helping the handicapped people. Two Handicapped people aren’t even allowed to get married without being penalized financially. This is outrageous!

I read last night on the internet that they sent out checks for the medicare program on June 10,2010. Under that Dounut hole for the perscriptions to relieve some of the pressure for seniors and the disable that’s on medicare now I do not know who all is getting one but 80,000 checks are going out.
Not everyone will be getting a $250.00 check. from what I understand, I will be among those who won’t. You have to have no other medical assistance other then Medicare, no state funded help that pays your premiums, and if you also have Medicaid along with your medicare, you also get nothing. You have to meet and exceed the intial amount, and be headed into what they concider catastophic in order to get this $250.00. If you look at the letter you get from your medicare that shows how much you have paid out so far this year, you can kind of tell by that if you are one of the unfortunates. If you haven’t met the guidelined amount yet, but may somewhere down the road in 2010, then you will get it, but not before.
I am so tired of the lies. President Obama promised us 250.00 an you can’t get an answer what is going on. If any one knows anything let the rest of us know.

Not all medicare holders are receiving it either. Only the ones that are in the castrophic in with payments that are paying for everything. For example I pawned my wedding band to get my meds because I have to pay all of my copays due to this new healthcare law. 16.18 I payed out like i have that.
However, I am trying to fight by signing a petition to see if they can give us a emergency raise because I believe they owe us something. We are all struggling but I will not get mad at the ones that get the check because they need it as bad as us. We need to stand up for our rights and speak up go to Sarah Palin’s facebook page she will give you a address for you to address these issues. I can see from all the responses from persons that need the stimulus money are very upset and feel all those on SSI and Social Security should get the $250 check as promised. The President should not make statements that are not true; it only enrages people when they find out the truth. Be honest in the first place. I am disabled but going to school on-line: I achieved my Bachelors and in September I start working on my Masters. I get $349 a month; my son makes up the difference for my rent. I live on my own and I am barely scraping along, but I choose not to give up, so I keep on purging ahead. I won’t give up!

As already discussed earlier, people who are just starting to draw SSI/SS are getting the 2009 $250 Stimulus check as part of their back up pay from the the stimulus check last year. It has nothing to do with this year. Everyone needs to just face the facts and remember these politicians at the ballot box.

you know this is really a shame that our government for the people by the people are so stinking rotten. only those who receive part d of the medicare will get this but here’s the kicker it will go to your drug company not anywhere you will see it, and you know what we still have to pay our co-pay or we don’t get the meds. can anyone tell me how this is right. when someone from the ssa people say yes we’re getting one them when. got it …..they have us right by the royal you know what. thank you.

I have never really worked I am receiving SSI/SSD but I have been hampered by my illnesses so I understand you have worked 20+ years and I agree you do deserve something I think we all should but I dont think you can blame those who have never worked a day in there life some are just unable with there illnesses. Yeah I agree people that just want to sit on there rear ends and not do work when able don’t deserve anything but for people that are disabled and cannot work what can we do? I’m even trying to find work but i’m so limited in what I can do.

I have been working since I got out of high school .I’ve been out of work due to lay off found another one right away then my daughter at 13 diagnose with osteosarcoma so I had to quit my new job she had a one year treatment I get ssi because of my daughter. I have three other kids so I still had to maintain my rent and other bills. I went back to work right when her treatment is over then 2009 she had a relapse. Osteosarcoma is in her lungs. Every little bit helps. I have not received nothing yet but I know it is coming soon I know of other people have gotten a notice in the mail. God Bless everyone and I hope everyone gets it too.
Both my parents and I are on government assistance. They get SS and SSI, which is 9.50 a month. I am disabled, I can’t function properly in soceity as most can, but that’s not the issue. Yes, we get food stamps… a whole 137 dollars. It’s pathetic that people who actually NEED this help aren’t getting it. What has happened to our country? What has happened to looking out for each other? I have lived through the Reagan administration, the Bush administration, the Clinton administration and the GW administration. Now we face the Obama administration who seem to want to tear down the ‘poor’. I bet none of them had ever had to expierence a time without clean clothes, shoes and food. Or eating pnut butter sandwiches b/c that’s all you could freaking afford. This country is NOT what it was 30 years ago and it’s a damn shame. This used to be a great nation who was looked to to lead the rest of the world. Now we are looked down upon by nearly EVERY country in the world simply because of the greed in our political regime. I did NOT vote for Obama. And I knew as soon as he became president the problems would only get worse. It takes a level headed, non biast person to truly lead a nation into economic security. I am the Mother of a 24 year old female who is physically and mentally challenged and she has a very servere seizure disorder which requires her to take 4 different medicines 4 times a day,and the medication is very very expensive.and I have not been in the work force for over 20 years now because of her health. Now I am sick with COPD and diabetics, high blood pressure and a disorder that attacks my colon is very very painful.and no medical insurance at all.Can not afford to pay for medical insurance out of pocket,because we live off a fixed income once the monthly bills have been paid there is hardly any left over to even begin to pay for my medications,so could someone please tell me what I’m suppose. I had hoped and prayed that things would be a little different under the Obama administration but I see I was wrong. Bet they are not suffering nor their family and friends.Things have got to change soon,because God is not please with is world and he is surely coming back soon.The United States is so busy taking care of other nations they have completely forgotten about their people.We have been left to care for ourselves.
